The last Spiderman soundtrack was full of rock songs and this one is no different. As the film is a darker one, with Spidey doing battle with an evil alien black suit, it makes sense that the soundtrack would be filled with harder/alternative music; it fits the mood of the story. I guess, in essence, that is what makes a good movie soundtrack – if it fits or enhances the mood of the film. Another plus about the soundtrack is that the songs are for the most part originals written specifically for the film rather than previously released recordings. No rehashes here! The only exception is the classic "The Twist" by Chubby Checker. All the bands on the soundtrack are young and either upcoming or chart toppers. It is filled with the likes of The Killers, Jet, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, and Snow Patrol. Pay special attention to the track by Coconut Records as it involves actor Jason Schwartzman and backing vocals by Kirsten Dunst.
