Rush releases an album every so often to show that progressive rock isn't dead yet. This particular release harkens back to their glory days soundwise. With their songs that sound like epic folklore tales you see how they might have even influenced such modern day bands as Arcade Fire. Contentwise the lyrics read like a self-help manual about how to deal with loss and the accompanying sadness, but it is not preachy rather it is fairly laidback about it. Everything is rather mellow about the album even lead singer Geddy Lee is not using the shrieks that he has most recently come to adore. Rush fans waited five long years for the album and it shows that good things come to those who wait. Catch Rush perform live in Montreal at the Bell Centre on September 15, 2007.
