The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts hosts a fundraising event every spring that when you attend you'll understand why it only happens once a year. As far as events go this is a huge one and the energy it must take to put it on is overwhelming. The Volunteer Association of the Museum puts on the event and they are a talented bunch! The amount of entertainment, gifts, food, drinks, and of course fun you get for your money is tremendous. Everywhere you look there are people in beautiful clothes and masks, food, dancers, drinks, decorations…I think you get the picture. The night is a feast for the senses and the monies raised go towards maintaining the high quality of exhibits the Museum puts on.
They use a variance on the Eyes Wide Open theme every year and this year it is The Third Eye. It will be a night of mystery and strange, but interesting characters. These characters will be your guides through the many different worlds created for your enjoyment. The air of mystery is helped along in that all guests are asked to attend the event masked, so make sure you rent the most elaborate one you can find.
The entertainment this year will be under the direction of Anita Bombita, who will be helped by none other than Jean-Francois Bouchard, Senior Director of Creation at the world-famous Cirque du Soleil. Due to this affiliation, two members of the Zumanity troupe, Sara Joel and Kevin Gibbs, will be on hand to perform. Besides this there will be DJs, visual artists, dancers, and musicians there making for a full evening of entertainment.
Take your best dress out of moth balls, rent/buy a mask, and polish your dancing shoes because it would be a shame to miss one of the best social events of the year in Montreal!
