Apparently the floodgates have just opened in France when it comes to metal bands. With the album by Gojira just being reviewed along comes Hacride's latest on its heels. This is their sophomore album and many have called this the metal breakthrough album of 2007 out of France. I guess, this is now saying something! While Hacride does have their own unique style they show a willingness to experiment with the flamenco-tinged song, "Zambra". If you can't picture flamenco music coupled with metal then give it a listen. On the down side, I did find some of the vocals to be too forced and quite shrill. There's the shrieking vocal style of metal and then there's over the edge. All in all a strong album from a group that shows promise.
