Ball of Fire

In a retelling of the Snow White fable director Howard Hawks (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Bringing Up Baby) adapted the story to fit a 1940s sensibility. As opposed to being as pure as the driven snow, the Snow White character is now a nightclub singer and the seven dwarves are not miners, but uptight professors. As well, the dialogue in the film is filled with words commonly used in the 1940s. It all works very well, however.
