With their sophomore album this band has taken a complete 180 degree turn musically. Their debut album was firmly in the alternative rock area whereas this one is more of the pop rock variety. Risky move for a young band as they might cheese off those who liked their first release. Experimenting is never a bad as long as you are playing to your strengths and not forcing things. I think this shift will bear fruit as it makes their music more accessible and radio friendly. It also seems like lead singer Eric Victorino is more in his element with these songs. Or at least his voice suits it better. They certainly have created a distinctive sound for themselves which will go a long ways toward separating them from a million other young bands.
