Charlie Wilson’s War

I went into this film thinking that I was going to see a humour-filled film about one of the more colourful congressmen ever in the United States. The trailers for the film depicted Charlie Wilson as bon vivant who loved liquor and women. He was a good old boy. That was a large aspect of the film, but there was also an element to it that surprised me. In small little pockets of the film it almost seemed as if the Americans were taking some responsibility for the chaos of the Middle East and Afghanistan.
