Lately it seems that you cannot make a creepy, thriller, horror film without copycatting films like Hostel and Saw. Thankfully director Gregory Hoblit (Primal Fear, Fracture) does not stoop to these low, gory levels. Not to say that there is no blood and guts, but he certainly reins it in and uses tension more than anything else. More than that, there is an attempt to almost go the highbrow way in that the film tries to make some commentaries on society and what we have evolved into with its focus on our addiction to the cyberworld.
