There are not many people who are able to resist the cheesy appeal of Mr. Barry Alan Pincus, better know under his stage name of Barry Manilow. I defy any of you to, once you have heard his hit "Copacabana", to get it out of your head. It's practically impossible! You will find yourself humming it all day.
At the age of 65, Manilow is coming off a successful over two year run in Las Vegas to bring his Vegas-style show around North America. In his 40 year career he has sold 76 million albums, won numerous awards and wrote songs for such stars as Dionne Warwick, Bette Midler and Rosemary Clooney. You don't get much bigger than Barry when it comes to pop music. If you need more proof, he has been ranked as the number one Adult Contemporary Artist of all-time by Billboard magazine.
His latest album "The Greatest Songs of the Seventies" (his 30th album), sees him covering such classics as The Beatles "The Long and Winding Road", Elton John's "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word", Simon & Garfunkle's "Bridge Over Troubled Water", and Carole King's "You Got a Friend". These songs coupled with Manilow's own hits like "Mandy", "I Write the Songs", "Looks Like We Made It", and "Can't Smile Without You". Bringing his elaborate Vegas show with these emotional songs should be every Barry Manilow fan's biggest dream.
