Yay! An outdoor show! This means it must be summer! Despite the fact that if you were to look outside your window today it looks more like spring or fall….rainy, grey and cloudy. Well, I have the perfect pick-me-up for you. Death Cab for cutie will be performing outdoors at the Old Port Friday night. Head on down to kick off summer the right way.
Since they formed 10 years ago in Washington this band has refused to do the expected. Despite the fact that their last studio album was a hit they went into the studio to make their follow up (“Narrow Stairs”) and recorded a completely different record. They seem to be more interested in the artistry of making music rather than the commercial aspect. Kudos to them! If you have the album and like it then you should be really stoked about seeing them live because “Narrow Stairs” comes very close to capturing what they sound like live. Lyrically the album is a fairly dark one, but there is usually a light at the end of the tunnel. Creatively and conceptually the album is a strong one.
Death Cab for Cutie’s indie pop sound has really found them a loyal following that seems to be growing exponentially. Commercial success was cemented when their songs started appearing on television shows like The O.C., Californication, CSI: Miami, and Six Feet Under. You know you’ve made it when…
