In today's hyper technological age careers can be made by having your song chosen for a commercial. This very thing happened to Bedouin Soundclash a couple of years ago. Their album was initially ignored and then a song from it was used for a Zellers commercial and it blew up. The latest such case is French born Israeli raised songstress Yael Naim and her song "New Soul". The song was used by Apple for a MacBook Air commercial and attention plus record sales soon followed.
Following along the musical path forged by Tori Amos and Fiona Apple, Naim sings pop/folk songs of the fantasy and simplicity in English, French and Hebrew. A classically trained pianist, she is a woman with a golden voice who will seduce with merely a listen. The instrumentation and arrangements in her music are minimalist, but still sound like there is nothing missing. Always ready to surprise the listener, Yael Naim also does a great cover of the Britney Spears tune "Toxic".
Today on stage she normally performs with her partner in crime and the producer of her latest album, David Donatien. Whatever the two decide to play you can rest assured that it will be a magical evening.
