Taking a break from being an iconic film director, Woody Allen has always played clarinet and now he brings his jazz band to the people of Montreal for our Jazz Festival. His filming schedule finally allows us to see his passion for jazz.
Allen's passion and forte has always been New Orleans flavoured jazz. Starting to play the clarinet in his teen years, Allen has maintained his love for music and playing it throughout his entire life. If you lived in New York you could see him play every Monday night with his New Orleans Jazz Band (a septet) at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhatten. Onstage he is not the director, but a musician and is very serious about it. Playing New Orleans jazz from between the 1920s and 1940s, come and hear a good band and not just out of curiousity.
The second show is close to being sold out, so you'll have to hustle to get your hands on tickets.
