Spending all of the season so far at the bottom of the USL standings is not the usual for the Montreal Impact. In the past couple of weeks after a coaching change and some roster changes the team seems to be firing on all cylinders. The Impact now have their record up to a respectable .500 (10-10-4) and with a win tonight against the Minnesota Thunder they could slip into third place overall in the standings. Minnesota is behind the impact with 31 points to their 34 points, so the chances look good to go over .500 for the first time this season.
On the upside new player additions such as forward Peter Byers and midfielder Felix Brillant have really worked sparked the club with Byers being named the USL player of the week recently. On the downside the club will have to face the Thunder without several members due to suspension. First is coach John Liminatis who is serving a one-game suspension due to a red card in the Impact last game. Assistant coach Andrea Di Pietrantonio will lead the team. Two players, defenders Simon Gatto and Nevio Pizzolitto, are also serving suspensions. Filling in for them will fall on people like rookie defender Alex Suprenant. Midfielder Patrick Leduc will still be out due to an ankle injury.
