The first single off this album, "Take Back the City" is already a hit for this Irish band. While it probably won't be as big a hit as "Chasing Cars" was (what could be?), they are looking like they will continue being one of the largest selling U.K. artists of the new millennium.
This their fifth album shows that the band is continuing its maturity and progression. There is not major sound change, but they are definitely tinkering with the Snow Patrol formula. The lyrics on this album are more positive than on the previous outings (good to see they've cheered up a bit!) and they continue to mix rock songs with ballads well. The only misstep for me on the entire album is the 16 minute long (are they shifting over to prog rock?!) song "The Lightening Strike".
