This 2008 in the Premier Basketball League a Montreal team will be joining. The Montreal Sasquat'ch will be playing their games at the Centre Pierre-Charbonneau. Montreal has tried several times before to support a successful professional basketball team. They have all failed, but let's give this team a chance and show people that Montreal is not just a Montreal Canadiens town but rather a sports town.
Led by CEO Réal Bourassa, director general and vice-president of basketball operations Pascal Fleury (formerly of the Dawson Blues, Georgetown Hoyas and the Harlem Globetrotters) and head coach Alejandro Hasbani, the team has nine players signed so far, including point guard and Montreal's own Denburk Reid (McGill Redman), guard Randy "White Chocolate" Gill (Bowie State University), forward Jamaal Wise (University of Rhode Island), and forward Gallo Cham (University of North Florida). Head Coach Alejandro Hasbani has international experience including coaching at the university level in Argentina, has coached a team to a gold medal at the PanAmerican games (1995-96) and has coached at the professional level in Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela.
During the course of their 20 game regular season the Montreal Sasquat'ch will be playing the Halifax Rainman, Manchester Millrats, Vermont Frost Heaves, Quebec Kebs, Detroit Panthers, and the Wilmington Sea Dawgs. Make sure you check out this high quality basketball and come out to root for the home team.
