This is the first of what will be an ongoing series of the best-of from Bill Frisell. Comprised of 15 tracks, with guest appearances by the likes of Ry Cooder and liner notes penned by none other than Elvis Costello, the album is a tale of Bill Frisell's musical journey into the genre known as folk. This means there are country, bluegrass and blues songs to be enjoyed. Not being a Bill Frisell expert by any means I have to weigh in with my two cents that this is his strongest genre. When you listen to the Americana music on the album you'll be won over and then will want to own all the albums they originally came from.
On this album you will be able to quickly learn what a good guitar player this man is. You will also have to acknowledge that all the music that this man produces is timeless and not likely to be enjoyed any less in 20 years…or 50….
