A concept album from metal band Queensryche sounds like an interesting idea and it is. The band has written the album from the point of view of one soldier and are based on a series of interviews lead singer Geoff Tate did with veterans (World War II to Iraq). The twelve songs tell their stories with their words. Through these poignant words set to music we are given a window into the life of a soldier and the consequences of war.
Despite being around the metal world for upwards of 28 years, the band sounds tight, fresh and relevant on this recording. All in all this is probably the band's strongest album in many years.
