Two bands for the price of one makes a lot of sense in these tough economic times. Leave it to punk rock bands to understand the economic pinch music fans are undergoing and try to make things affordable.
Rise Against, now on Geffen after several years as independents, is from Chicago and they have been together under different names and with different lineups since 1999. An interesting punk band as they all don't drink or do drugs and are all strict vegetarians. They are also very politically active. What does not change is the fact that they are dedicated punk rock musicians who write and perform catchy tunes.
Fellow American punk rock band Rancid are veterans who have been around since 1991. They have widely been credited with bringing punk rock back into the American mainstream in the mid-90s. Willing to experiment with their sound they have meshed punk with hip hop, roots reggae, dub, and funk. Respected musicians they have worked with the likes of Iggy Pop and Buju Banton.
