Being one of the biggest bands in Europe does not always translate to success on this side of the Atlantic. Muse is a band that is trying to change that trend. They also have the reputation as one of the best live bands going today.
Their sound has evolved from fusion to progressive rock to electronica to something completely experimental. With each album they have experimented and grown. Also they have gained a more and more rabid fan base and collected praise from music critics like it was going out of style.
Once again this album is a step in a new direction for the band. Soundwise it uses some influences from hip hop and modern pop music and fuses them with its classic rock sound. Some parts even have a symphonic sound to them. It certainly is ambitious and daring. Lyrically the subjects covered are what you've come to expect from the band including politics, conspiracies, love, and standing up for what you believe in.
Though I'm sure people will be raving about the band and the album, it certainly isn't for everyone. For others it will be deemed a modern classic.
