Emmylou Harris and her Red Dirt Boys Concert Preview

One of the more respected and popular American country music singer/songwriters is Emmylou Harris. You can gage her popularity by the fact that she is constantly touring and in demand by other musicians to work with.

Harris began her music career working with Gram Parsons and he gave her quite a solid foundation in the history of country music. He also recognized immediately her immense talents in harmonizing and duets. After Parsons's death Harris continued working with a myriad of other artists like Linda Ronstadt, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, and Roy Orbison.

Besides being a musician she has also always been an activist from taking part in Lilith Fair (she has always been concerned with feminism within her music), organizing an annual concert against landmines and is an active member of the animal rights group PETA.

Alternating between recording covers to self-penned songs, whatever Harris sings carries her signature sound. That clear angel-like voice has enraptured fans for decades.
