Over the span of thirty five years of live shows this album was born. Chosen from a variety of concerts that Tom Petty and his Heartbreakers played between the years 1978-2007, the music is what it has always been about with this band. Left pretty much as they were recorded (with minimal cleaning up), the songs have not been fiddled with and it really affords you the opportunity to hear what great musicians they are.
As you are listening you'll realize how effortlessly they have moved from genre to genre over the course of their career. While they do have their own sound they are not afraid to incorporate their influences into their work.
Besides hearing them play many of their best loved songs, the 4 CD set also includes some of the best covers they have performed over the years like James Brown's "Good, Good Lovin'" and Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well".
Listening to the album made me wonder if there is any more great music going to be recorded by the band?
