Them Crooked Vultures are the latest supergroup to get together. Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age (guitar/vocals), John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin (keyboards/bass) and Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters (drums) have come together to record music as one. When these three men got together they had to know there was going to be monster expectations for whatever music they made. Not only have they faced this pressure, but they have managed to live up to the expectations with their first album.
The music they have created uses the strengths of each of the members and managed to make something that is unique and a hell of a lot of fun. It is very strong bluesy, guitar rock in its essence. Each member is given their moment to shine with their own solo moments and each shows what great musicians they are.
Oftentimes these types of super groups only record one album together and then disappear into the sunset. With the high quality music they've recorded and the obvious chemistry they enjoy here's to hoping this is just the first of many albums.
