A secret group of highly trained guinea pigs who also happen to be spies are assigned the task of doing everything they can to stop an evil plot to take over the world. Darwin, (Sam Rockwell – Frost/Nixon, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) the team leader, will do anything to make sure they are successful. His team includes Blaster, (Tracy Morgan – from television's 30 Rock), a weapons expert, and Juarez, (Penelope Cruz – 9, Broken Embraces), a martial arts expert. They are helped in their duties by Speckles (Nicolas Cage – Ghost Rider, National Treasure), a mole, and several other animals.
The dastardly appliance mogul Leonard Saber (Bill Nighy – Valkyrie, Notes on a Scandal) is the one with the nefarious plan. He will find out the hard way that gerbils are a rodent that you should take seriously.
I was willing to accept gerbils as spies and heroes because Disney has made other rodents animated characters to believe in, but they failed us with this film. "G-Force" has a silly story and is not even close to being funny. Even the usual sure fire fart jokes did not cause me to chuckle. I didn't even like the characters. Nor can I see young ones liking the film because it is more like an action film rather than an animated film that keeps kids laughing and entertained.
The only redeeming quality about the film is that the animation is great. But that is not enough of a reason to watch a film.
