Toronto quartet (D – vocals/guitar, Dave – bass, Bill – lead guitar, Bruce – drums) Mass Assembly plays a down and dirty type garage rock. While the production values on the EP are high (much of the crunchy guitar work that you hear from them live has been cleaned up) you can still hear their indie roots poking through every so often. The five songs on the EP are filled with classic rock sounds, rhythmic beats, strong guitar licks, and even some venturing into punk sensibilities. All the sounds they incorporate into their music make sense as they list The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, and The Clash as their influences. The dark lyrics are tempered by some light at the end of each of the tunnels. Nothing is as hopeless as it seems and this is a new young band waiting for you to discover them.
