Maybe hockey fans in Montreal can feel a little better if the Canadiens' farm club, the Hamilton Bulldogs, exact some revenge on the back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers just before the Olympic break if Hamilton defeats Philadelphia's farm club, the Adirondack Phantoms? I don't know, but a win would be good.
All the players that Montreal called up before the break (P.K. Subban, Ryan White, David Desharnais, and Tom Pyatt) have been returned to Hamilton. This means they are pretty much a full team with the exception of defenceman Yannick Weber, who is playing in the Olympics for Switzerland.
Hopefully, the team can get itself out of the 3-game losing streak it is in the midst of before they play at the Bell Centre on Saturday. The team will play against Grand Rapids on Friday before they travel to Montreal for their Sunday afternoon tilt against Adirondack.
Hamilton is ahead of Adirondack in the standings with 76 (after 56 games) points to Adirondack's 54 (after 54 games). The Bulldogs are in first place in the AHL North Division with a 12 point lead on the second place Rochester Americans. The Bulldogs opposition will not be a cakewalk no matter how many points they are behind as they are coming off a win and are fighting for a playoff spot in their division. Adirondack has some players with NHL experience and who Montreal fans will recognize such as former Hab Jason Ward, former Minnesota Wild Krys Kolanos (injured), and goalies Johan Backlund and John Grahame.
