The golf season is well under way in Quebec and once again the province will be hosting a top flight international tournament. The PGA Champions tour is celebrating its 30th anniversary and is very popular with fans. The PGA Champions tour is comprised of players over 50 year of age. The Champions Tour counts among its membership some of the best golfers ever to play like Tom Watson, Mark O'Meara and Nick Price
With a purse of $1.8 million dollars the new Montreal stop on the PGA Champions tour is nothing to sneeze at. That is why it is able to attract top class golf players like Fred Couples, Corey Pavin, Tom Lehman, Mark Calcavecchia, and Loren Roberts. Players such as Canadian Dave Barr, Fred Funk, Hale Irwin, and Peter Jacobsen will also be there. All in all there will be 78 players trying to make the cut.
The Fontainebleu Golf Course in Blaineville has hosted other prestigious events in the past like the 2004 Telus Skins Game featuring Vijay Singh and John Daly. The course is a par 72 and 7,105 yards long. Hosting a tournament like this puts Quebec and Montreal on the international golf map. It also allows local fans of golf to get up close and personal with world class players.
