It is about time that these two made it official. I mean actually recorded something together. Musicians Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiley) and Jonathan Rice have worked together often in the past whether putting in guest appearances at the other's live show or solo albums. This album is their first "official" collaboration together.
It is an album that is almost entirely done by them. They use their voices to harmonize beautifully and play practically every instrument on it. It sounds nothing like their solo material or Lewis's work with Rilo Kiley; it is a completely new entity they have created. The music has a tough and raw quality to it. As far as tone goes it is fairly dark but the peppiness of the music keeps it from being too depressing. Bottom line the result is some rather catchy pop-rock music. One of the better male/female duos to come down the pipe lately.
