English folk rock band Mumford & Sons formed in 2007 out of the London music scene. They came to be in the folk scene around the same time as Noah and the Whale and Laura Marling. The band is made up of Ben Lovett (keyboards, accordion), Marcus Mumford (lead vocals, guitar, drums, mandolin), Ted Dwane (string bass), and Winston Marshall (banjo, dobro). As you can see they are all multi-instrumentalists and as a result during live show the members of Mumford & Sons have been known to switch around the instruments they play just for convenience sake.
The band's debut album "Sigh No More", released last year in the U.K., was released February 2010 in North America. It has been hustle and bustle for the band since the album's release. They performed on Late Night with David Letterman and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, played at the Glastonbury Festival, announced that they will make an appearance on the next Ray Davies (formerly of The Kinks) album, and performed at the Reading and Leeds festivals.
They have built quite a reputation for their energetic and spontaneous live performances. Setlists constantly change and they will impress you with how well they play a multitude of instruments each. A Mumford & Sons show is really a collaborative effort between the band and the audience.
