Ahhh, good ol' horror movies. B level actors, weak plots, and gratuitous sex scenes all combine here for a typical fright flick. "Hellraiser: Hellworld" is the 8th installment in Clive Barker's well known Hellraiser series; the movies with the Pinhead character for the unaware. Very, very loosely based around the original concept, "Hellraiser: Hellworld" is about 5 friends that are invited to a private party for their favourite internet game; Hellworld. Extremely graphic and violent, "Hellworld" mostly delivers in the freakish category, with enough disturbing scenes to make even the most senseless people cringe.
Starring Lance Henrikson (Alien, Millenium TV Series) as the host of the goth party and Doug Bradley as Pinhead, this horror movie has a negligible plot and obscure satanic references, but that's to be expected with this stuff anyways. With the friends dying off one by one in a mansion laden with obscene and disturbing props, Chelsea (Katheryn Winnick) and Jake (Christopher Jacot) are left to fend for themselves in their nightmare of a party. Hardcore Hellraiser fans (do they exist?) will surely be turned off as the other Hellraiser movies are ignored; but hey, look at the "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" series. It goes with the territory I guess. If you are looking for a nice Halloween rent, this will suffice for your blood and guts desires, and don't worry, watching the first 7 installments is definitely not necessary.
