Sometimes even on paper a sequel sounds like a bad idea. With Lake Placid that is double true. The original was bad and what else could be left to tell about this story? With this film it is like beating a dead horse…or crocodile in this case.
Sheriff James Riley's *John Schneider – from television's Smallville) worst dreams have come true as four 30-foot crocodiles are terrorizing a small community near Lake Placid. He contacts the state Fish and Wildlife department and is joined by wildlife agent Emma Warner (Sarah Lafleur – Shall We Dance) in the quest to capture or kill these predators before they kill again. Cocky big game hunter, Struthers (Sam McMurray – Addams Family Values, The Mod Squad – 1999), rounds out the hunting party. Their task is made all the more difficult due to the meddling of the eccentric crocodile lover Sadie Bickerman (Cloris Leachman – Young Frankenstein, Scary Movie 4).
Unbeknownst to Riley his rebellious teenaged son, Scott (Chad Collins – Legion of the Dead), heads out on a lakeside camping trip. He and his friends have no idea about the killer crocodiles. Scott and his friends soon have to fight for their lives.
This made-for-television film suffers from poor direction, a silly script, low budget, fake looking crocodiles, and dodgy acting. Not much going for it…not much else to be said.
