One of the more popular episodes of this 'Unplugged' series by MTV was Nirvana's airing in 1993. Playing only acoustic instruments for the duration of the one hour show, 90s grunge band Nirvana with their iconic lead singer Kurt Cobain play in front of a small crowd in an intimate venue.
With this format you get to see that Nirvana's magic was not limited to their loud grunge sound rather because of Cobain's raw and deep lyrics they can be appreciated at any level. The often tortured Cobain seems to really have enjoyed the show as he is casual, funny and relaxed throughout. Though the references he makes throughout the show to death and suicide come off as rather chilling today.
Included in the set list are many of their best known songs, including Come As You Are, All Apologies, About a Girl, and Love Myself. A guest appearance by underground group, The Meat Puppets, is also part of the show.
We also get the bonus of some behind-the-scenes footage.
