Hamilton Bulldogs vs. Adirondack Phantoms Preview

In what has become a bi-annual tradition, the Montreal Canadiens' farm club, the Hamilton Bulldogs, will be at the Bell Centre for a regular season game this Friday night. They will faceoff against the Philadelphia Flyers farm club, the Adirondack Phantoms. This a perfect opportunity to see the up and coming Habs' prospects as well as bringing the entire family to attend a hockey game at the Bell Centre for a fairly reasonable price. The tickets start at $10 with the top ones going for $58.

The Bulldogs will be playing a home game away from the usual confines of Copps Coliseum in Hamilton. They have been a strong team the past couple of years and while they are a little behind this year they still find themselves in 3rd place in the North Division and sporting a respectable 30-20-1-4 record. The Phantoms are having a tougher season as they are 7th in the East Division with a losing record of 18-30-3-6. All indications lead to the belief that the Bulldogs, if they play up to their capabilities, should provide a victory for the fans on Friday night.

With all the injuries on Montreal several of the players that started off the season with the Bulldogs, like Max Pacioretty, Ryan White, Yanick Weber, and David Desharnais are playing with the big team. There are still a couple of players you should keep your eye on, however. Defenceman Brendon Nash is back with the team after a short two game stint with Montreal, winger Dustin Boyd started off the season with Montreal, solid two-way centre Andreas Engqvist was up in Montreal for one game, and Mathieu Carle played for Montreal for a few games in previous seasons. Just because Adirondack is behind them in the standings does not mean that they don't have several strong players. The Flyers' playoff hero – goaltender Michael Leighton is playing with the farm team this season, former Bulldog player defenceman Danny Syvret is a solid veteran player, defenceman Marc-Andre Bourdon has been called up to the NHL on several occasions, and veteran left winger Denis Hamel has played in the NHL for the Ottawa Senators, Atlanta Thrashers and Philadelphia Flyers.
