Kylie Minogue Concert Preview

Despite the fact that she has been labeled as a “diva” Kylie Minogue is relatively low maintenance.  That no-frills attitude certainly does not translate to her shows.  With her latest tour, the first time in her over 20 year career she has played Montreal, she will be bringing an elaborate Las Vegas-styled show to her fans.

Kylie began her career as a child actress on Australian television then went on to star in the Aussie soap Neighbors.  She released her first single “Locomotion” in 1987 and had her first 13 singles reach the top 10 on the UK charts.  The 90s were not so kind to Kylie as she pretty much dropped off the radar.  Her reinsertion to the pop charts began in 2000 and has not slowed down since.  She has gone on to have a series of charting singles like “Spinning Around”, “Can’t Get You Out of My Head”, “In Your Eyes”, “Slow”, “Wow”, and “Love At First Sight”.

Though she has toured Europe extensively and Australia, Kylie has never toured North America until recently.  It was considered a smart career/business move as her success on this side of the ocean never attained the level of that in the UK.  After successfully battling breast cancer (diagnosed in May 2005) in 2009 she decided it was time to cross the ocean and did some shows in the U.S and Canada.  Montreal was not one of the cities she chose to come to.

Well, the wait for Kylie Minogue fans is finally over!  With the release in June of 2010 of her 11th album, “Aphrodite”, she has embarked on another high profile tour to support it and Montreal is the first of the North American dates.  This show is going to be huge with the stage alone costing $10 million and the entire production costing an estimated $25 million.  It involves a live band, a huge cast of dancers, aerial performers, water fountains designed by the people from the Bellagio in Las Vegas, and a wardrobe designed by Dolce & Gabbana.
