Plan B – The Defamation of Strickland Banks

Ben Drew is an actor.  He also is a musician/rapper/singer.  When he wears the musician hat he takes on the name of Plan B.  This is his second album with the first one being a Top 40 hit in the UK.  On his latest outing he is following the strong British trend of reinventing himself as a retro soul singer.  The songs follow a story he has created of a character named Strickland Banks.  Banks has found himself jailed for a crime he did not commit. Some rapping, done in his pronounced British accent, still happens on certain songs while for the most part he uses his falsetto voice to convey the story and emotions of the songs.  Some songs are uptempo Motown-like numbers while others are beautiful and lushly arranged ballads.
