Robert James Ritchie has come a long way from his apple orchard and horse tending days in Romeo, Michigan. Bob Ritchie is better known to us as Kid Rock. The singer/songwriter/rapper has earned five Grammy nominations over the course of his successful career. He certainly wasn’t a hit right out of the gates, however.
After releasing several albums that were basically ignored, it was the 1998 release of his album “Devil Without a Cause” and its sales of 11 million albums that turned him into a major player on the music scene. The hit singles “Cowboy”, “Bawitdaba” and “Only God Knows Why” earned much radio play. Subsequent album releases and singles like “American Bad Ass”, “Picture” and “All Summer Long” kept Kid Rock in the spotlight.
His sound is a mixture of southern rock, country and metal rap, so it hits many demographics. His persona is a good ole boy who likes to drink, smoke and be with women. Having been married to Pamela Anderson, had a sex tape and gotten into to a dust up at an awards show with Tommy Lee (Anderson’s ex and a member of metal band Motley Crue) have only heightened his popularity.
He has turned 40 this year and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any.
