With each album they record the Arctic Monkeys distance themselves further and further from the kind of music they originally made. For example, their last album, “Hamburg”, was rather dark and inaccessible compared to the upbeat music they recorded on their debut. “Suck It and See” is a mix of down tempo songs/ballads and experimental music. You can also hear the definite influence of 60s music like The Beatles and The Monkeys. Just by reading this you can tell that there is a wide variety of music styles on the album. They really show their versatility as a band. Though this is not as strong an outing as their first two albums it certainly is one that you’ll want to listen to again and again over the course of the summer.
