Considering the premise of the show in which a psychic works for the D.A.’s office in Phoenix, Arizona. Allison Dubois (played by Patricia Arquette), a married mother of three, uses her special ability to help the D.A. She is able to talk to dead people, read peoples thoughts and see the future in her dreams. These abilities come in handy when trying to solve crimes.
What makes this show different from other law and order type shows is the family element. You end up truly caring for the main characters. The DuBois’s home life is an integral part of the show and it is full and busy. Harried, but loving, Allison and Joe (played by Jake Weber) try their best to balance their careers and home life.
Unlike many shows, Medium ended on a high note.
Episode 1: Bring Your Daughter to Work Day: Allison and Bridgette (played by Maria Lark) share a dream involving a homeless man and end up swapping personalities.
Episode 2: The Match Game: Joe has to deal with one employee accusing another of sexual harassment.
Episode 3: Means and Ends: Allison is worried when Detective Scanlon (played by David Cubitt) begins to be tormented by dreams of his dead brother.
Episode 4: How to Kill a Good Guy: Allison realizes that the case she is working on might be related to Scanlon’s dead brother.
Episode 5: Talk to the Hand: Allison has a skin graft after her hand is burned and after the operation her hand demonstrates that it has a mind of its own.
Episode 6: Where Were You When…?: Allison feels helpless in her efforts to stop an upcoming catastrophe that flashes about the future she is having predict it happening.
Episode 7: Native Tongue: Joe feels a little bit threatened over a relationship that Allison has developed with a linguist.
Episode 8: Smoke Damage: Allison has dreams of a fire and begins to believe some mysterious fire-related deaths are related to them.
Episode 9: The People in Your Neighborhood: Allison’s visions make her wonder if the convicted sex offender that has moved into her neighborhood really is guilty.
Episode 10: Blood on the Tracks: Joe has a hard time dealing with his mother’s (played by Kathy Baker) terminal diagnosis.
Episode 11: Only Half Lucky: Devalos`s campaign manager is quite interested in Bridgette`s abilities.
Episode 12: Labor Pains: A man comes to Allison for help when his wife goes missing.
Episode 13: Me Without You: Allison finally becomes a lawyer and Joe decides to change his career path.
