Despite director Patricia Cardozo’s (Real Women Have Curves) best efforts to keep some secrets and suspense in this Lifetime film she fails. No amount of mysterious music or decent performances will cover up the trail of the story which is a mile wide. Predictable as death and taxes, but inoffensive.
Blind college student Sofia Delgado (Martha Higareda – Street Kings, Smoking Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball) flies home after her cousin Eva unexpectedly commits suicide. Once home, Sofia does not accept the reasons or explanations given. She begins to investigate and try to find out the real reason her cousin killed herself.
Over the course of her investigation she meets Eva`s boyfriend Ethan McAllister (Chad Michael Murray – from television`s One Tree Hill) and begins to uncover some deep, dark family secrets. These secrets have been kept by Eva`s mother, Marisol (Rosie Perez – Pineapple Express, White Men Can`t Jump).
Many parts of the film are rather far fetched, yet somehow it kept my interest. The whole romance aspect was the most predictable and cheesy of the film. I could have done without it. For fans of Lifetime films then this is one of the better ones.
