While it stars all our favourites from the Ice Age animated film series it is not a feature film. A short film. 26 minutes short. Now you might think I’m being a little Grinchy by pointing this out right at the top of my review but this is what struck me first about it. It was over before I even had a chance to really settle in.  I understand that all things aimed at kids have to be short (and sweet) in order to keep their attention and avoid them getting fidgety. Understood and expected. This was really a little too short, though.

Accidentally Sid (John Leguizamo) ruins Manny’s (Ray Romano) Christmas Rock, which is a family heirloom. Both he and Manny end up on Santa’s Naughty List. Sid for the obvious reason and Manny because he does not believe in Santa Claus. Wanting to save Christmas and make her father believe, Peaches (Ciara Bravo) leads her young friends on the long voyage to the North Pole. Not knowing where their daughter is Manny and Ellie (Queen Latifah) along with Diego (Dennis Leary) start off to find her. Once they all get there it will be up to this motley crew to save Christmas for the entire world.

On the plus side this is a fresh Christmas tale.  And that is not an easy thing to accomplish in today’s day and age. The characters are familiar and cute. There is plenty of fun and harmless mischief. The animation is well done. All is good for me except the length.
