It is an age old question. Why do men drive sports cars? It is something that every woman already knows but apparently no one believed so they went ahead and spent lots of money on a study to prove. The University of Minnesota and The University of Texas-San Antonio did a joint study that confirmed that men who spend money on flashy items are looking for sex.

porschePorsches perform the same function as the large colourful feathers on male peacocks. Men believe that the road to one night stands with women is paved with flashy items. Here’s where it gets a little interesting folks. The same study indicated that women are onto men’s tricks. They see men who drive Porsches as great dates but not good marriage material. Of the 1,000 women survey a majority found men who drive Porsches more attractive than those that drove Honda Civics.  But these same women see men who drive flashy cars as only interested in uncommitted sex.

This all begs the question: Are men sending out the wrong message? Or is it exactly what they intended? I think another costly study that will give us answers we already know is in order.
