If you want an example of why HD Audio is essential in certain cases then take a look and listen to the blu-ray Albert Lee: Tearing It Up. Its sound will astound you.

Albert Lee was a part of Eric Clapton’s band for over five years and then went on to play with Emmylou Harris’s backing band, Hot Band. Pretty impressive credentials, I’d say. For almost one hour Lee, along with his backing band that consists of Randle Currie (pedal steel), JT Thomas (piano), Bob Glaub (bass), Don Heffington (drums), and Alexandra Lee – Albert’s daughter (vocals), plays his favourite songs. His stuff falls mostly into the country genre including his best known songs “Country Boy” and “Luxury Liner”. Lee covers songs by Hoyt Axton, Carl Perkins, and Gram Parsons. He and his band are “on” and very tight. They are playing live but not in front of an audience basically they are on a sound stage. While listening the visuals and audio is so clear it is like they were playing right in my living room.
