Getting married and becoming a mother seems to have tempered Alanis Morissette’s anger levels. No longer is she the angry girl who spat out the words to her songs and inspired a generation of women to speak out. Now she is more like Mother Earth. What has not changed is how introspective and revealing she is in her songs. She still sings about her life and how she feels about it. So much so that oftentimes it feels like you are the therapist and she is the patient. The woman is so in touch with her feelings and touchy feely that she herself stated that “I can’t wait to share it with this fun and funny planet, and to tour, and can’t WAIT to have the lively, engaging and challenging conversations that these songs may invite.” Some have criticized and even gone so far as to openly mock her for being so transparent but obviously these people’s opinions haven’t changed her at all. An artist who is in a continuous state of evolution and yet is completely comfortable in her own skin no matter what. Another thing that remains is her unique voice. She uses it wisely in that it really pulls out the emotions and feelings from the lyrics. Longtime fans will be very happy with the entire album.
