The sisters Wilson (honorary Canadiens, no?) are still at it. Fortysomething years into their career they are still recording music. On top of that it is still rock ‘n roll music. Vintage Heart sound with grinding guitar solos courtesy of Nancy and soaring vocals courtesy of Ann. Though I do admit I do love it when Nancy occasionally takes the lead vocals on. No muss, no fuss. Just straight forward rock. There are only ten tracks but each one is a winner with no fillers. A special treat is Walkin’ Good which features a guest vocal appearance by Sarah McLachlan (the Canadian connection continues!). Some of the songs (due to the lyrics) sound quite personal. Makes sense as they wrote or co-wrote all the songs. Two in particular that you will find yourself connecting to are “Skin & Bones” and “Pennsylvania”. The good thing is that you don’t have to be a previous Heart fan to enjoy this album. This is probably their best work since the mid-80s.
