During the 1980s Motley Crue was the cat’s pyjamas when it came to commercial heavy metal. They churned out many a hit including “Smoking in the Boys’ Room”, “Girls, Girls, Girls”, “Dr. Feelgood”, and “Kickstart My Heart”. They say that timing is everything and the band was definitely around at the right time. Coming onto the musical scene at the same time as the dawning of MTV and music videos really was a boost to their careers. Part of their success was due to their way they looked and the image they projected.
Motley Crue is not just about music; it is also about image. Many teenage boys wanted to be a member of Motley Crue due to their image. The band epitomized the rock lifestyle with lots of girls, long hair, leather clothing, drug addictions, sexual escapades, constant partying, and heavy drinking.
Now we are 33 years after they got together as a band and Motley Crue is definitely older and somewhat wiser. They are winding down a long and successful career with Nikki Sixx saying they will call it quits for good after the release of their next album or EP. Enjoy them while you can Crue fans!
