For some of us during the 1980s Indochine was the best French language pop group. Over the course of their over 30 year career they have sold over 10 million albums making them one of the most commercially successful French acts ever.
Formed in 1981 their singles “L’Aventurier” and “Canary Bay” were da bomb! They were one of those cool European New Wave bands that came out during that decade. Then during the 1990s, while they did release a couple of albums, they disappeared only to come back with a successful album, Paradize, in 2002.
Over the years the band’s sound has evolved from the New Wave sound to one that the critics negatively compared to a copy of The Cure and then to a much more lyrically darker and introspective sound. They released their 12th album this past February entitled Black City Parade.
