If you go by this quirky television series then Portland, Oregon must be a strange place to live. Portlandia is a series that uses comedy to take a look at the oddball types and happenings that are claimed to be living in this West Coast city. As it is the brainchild of Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen and produced by Lorne Michaels you shouldn’t be surprised to find out that it is made up of a series of short skits. One more strange than the next. Like SNL not all the skits are equally good or funny. There will always be gems to be found, however, you just have to stick it out. Keep your eyes peeled for guest appearances by Jim Gaffigan, Chloe Sevigny, Bill Hader, Kyle MacLachlan, Roseanne Barr, George Wendt, Patton Oswalt, Jeff Goldblum, Martina Navratilova, and Rose Byrne.

Episode 1: Winter in Portlandia: Fred (played by Fred Armisen) and Carrie (played by Carrie Brownstein) discover what winter is like in Portland. They also come across a man who is obsessed with pasta.

Episode 2: Take Back MTV: Trying to save MTV from the tweens who seem to be behind all the programming of the station becomes Iris and Spike’s life missions.

Episode 3: Missionaries: Fred and Carrie try to entice people who have moved to Seattle back to Portland.

Episode 4: Nina’s Birthday: For her 32nd birthday Nina decides to plan a huge party.

Episode 5: Squiggleman: Parents in the city decide that it is up to them to shift the focus onto music that is good for their teens.

Episode 6: Off the Grid: After a scandal the Mayor steps down and then gets out of the limelight completelp

Episode 7: The Temp: A temporary mayor of Portand is named.

Episode 8: Bed and Breakfast Soft Opening: Their opening causes plenty of trouble for a new local bed and breakfast.

Episode 9: Alexandra: Alexandra (played by Chloe Sevigny) must make the choice between Fred and Carrie.

Episode 10: No Fo-O-Fo- Bridge: Fred and Carrie decide to have dinner at a communal table. Gahvin and his girlfriend go to the movies.

Episode 11: Blackout: The power in Portland is shut off.
