Life in the burbs and working in the big city has not changed that much over the years. Or has it? Follow young married couple Rob (played by Dick Van Dyke) and Laura Petrie (played by Mary Tyler Moore) as they try to navigate existing in the two worlds. The couple lives in New Rochelle and Rob works as a comedy writer in the city. Sit back and enjoy all the ensuing hilarity.
Episode 1: My Mother Can Beat Up My Father: Rob’s ego takes a bruising when Laura has to defend him at a bar by using judo.
Episode 2: The Ghost Of A. Chantz: Rob, Laura, Buddy (played by Morey Amsterdam) and Sally (played by Rose Marie) spend the night in a cabin but don’t get much sleep as it seems like it might be haunted.
Episode 3: The Lady And The Baby Sitter: Richie’s (played by Larry Matthews) babysitter Roger (played by Eddie Hodges) has feelings for Laura. The problem is he has a hard time telling her.
Episode 4: A Vigilante Ripped My Sports Coat: Rob and Jerry’s (played by Jerry Paris) friendship is almost ruined over a difference in points of view concerning politics.
Episode 5: The Man From ‘Emperor’: Rob is offered a job at a men’s magazine. He is excited but Laura is less than thrilled.
Episode 6: Romance, Roses And Rye Bread: Sally thinks that Bert Monker (played by Sid Melton) might be Mr. Right. She soon rethinks that when she realizes that they are both just lonely.
Episode 7: 4-And-A-Half: A rather awkward thief (played by Don Rickles) tries his best to rob the Petries while they are stuck in an elevator.
Episode 8: The Alan Brady Show Goes To Jail: The thief from the stuck elevator now has to perform in a jail. As he is about to begin a case of mistaken identity leads them to think that Rob is an inmate.
Episode 9: Three Letters From One Wife: In order to save Rob’s job, Millie (played by Ann Morgan Guilbert) gets a letter writing campaign organized.
Episode 10: It Wouldn’t Hurt Them To Give Us A Raise: Rob valiantly tries to get a raise for Buddy and Sally. After talking to Alan Brady’s accountant he realizes it is not going to be easy.
Episode 11: Pink Pills And Purple Parents: In a flashback we see how strangely Laura acted the first time she meets Rob’s parents. She had taken some of Millie’s pills and they make her act like she is drunk.
Episode 12: The Death Of The Party: Rob tries to hide the fact that he is sick from Laura as he helps her prepare for a party.
Episode 13: Stretch Petrie vs. Kid Schenk: Rob pays back a favour by trying to get Neil Schenk (played by Jack Carter) a job.
Episode 14: The Impractical Joke: Rob warns Buddy that he is going to get him with a practical joke. Paranoid about when it is going to happen, Buddy acts suspicious when an IRS agent comes for a visit.
Episode 15: Brother, Can You Spare $2500?: Rob, Buddy and Sally are exhausted from working eleven hours straight on a script. Rob believes he has brought it home only to figure out when he gets there without it that he left it at Grand Central Station.
Episode 16: Stacey Petrie – Part 1: Sally is to show Stacey (played by Jerry Van Dyke) how to date a lady.
Episode 17: Stacey Petrie – Part 2: Stacey meets Julie (played by Jane Wald) and to impress her shows her a letter signed by James Garner. It turns out it is just a friend of his and not the actor.
Episode 18: The Redcoats Are Coming: Rob offers to hide The Redcoats in his home.
Episode 19: Boy #1, Boy #2: Laura and Millie are driving Rob up the wall because their sons are both cast in a commercial.
Episode 20: The Case Of The Pillow: After buying pillows from a salesman and discovering that they smell like chickens, Rob decides to take him to court.
Episode 21: Young Man With A Shoehorn: Rob and Buddy decide to invest their money in Uncle Lou’s (played by Lou Jacobi) shoe store.
Episode 22: Girls Will Be Boys: Richie asks for advice from Rob and Laura about how to stop a girl from hitting him. Rob and Laura discover that the young girl likes Richie.
Episode 23: Bupkis: Despite the fact that he signed away his rights to them, Rob tries to get paid for The Bupkis.
Episode 24: Your Home Sweet Home Is My Home: Rob and Laura think they have found their dream home only to discover later that it has a rock in the middle of it.
Episode 25: Anthony Stone: Rob and Buddy uncover that Sally’s date is married.
Episode 26: Never Bathe On Saturday: Somehow Laura manages to get stuck in a hotel bathtub. Well, her toe is jammed in the spout of the hotel tub and she cannot get it out.
Episode 27: One Hundred Terrible Hours: Rob tries his darndest to stay awake during his job interview with Alan Brady. Easier said than done for this sleep deprived guy.
Episode 28: Show Of Hands: Laura and Rob dye their hands black while dying Richie’s play costume. Now they have to go to an awards show to accept an award for Alan Brady like that.
Episode 29: Baby Fat: Rob regrets telling Alan that he would help him. Alan is going to perform on Broadway and asks Rob to write him some jokes to add to his play.
Episode 30: Br-rooom, Br-rooom: Rob is arrested while riding on his new motorcycle.
Episode 31: There’s No Sale Like Wholesale: Rob regrets allowing Buddy to buy a coat for Laura that is too big.
Episode 32: A Farewell To Writing: Rob and Sally have to write a eulogy for Alan before he dies. They are going to get a big raise in order to make them do it.
