Though her biggest hits have been in the pop rock genre Sheryl Crow has not been a stranger to country music. Some of her songs have had some country leanings while her duet with Kid Rock was pretty much full blown country. Feels Like Home is the most country she has sounded. Because of her versatility as an artist it sounds quite authentic for her first go at it. The music vet was wise enough to surround herself with some big names in country like Brad Paisley and Luke Laird, who has written tracks for Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean. Each one of the songs was co-written with someone else. Paisley co-wrote one of the tracks on the album, “Waterproof Mascara”. It is a touching ballad. The sounds on the album vary from straight up honky tonk to a more mainstream country sound. Production values are high with all twelve tracks having a very polished sound. What has stayed consistent no matter what type of music Crow is recording are the catchy hooks. The lady knows how to draw the listener in with a couple of repeated notes. I can totally see country radio eating up a track like “Callin’ Me When I’m Lonely”. Everything is solid and I don’t expect that this will be her last foray into the country music scene. Especially since she is now living in Nashville, Tennessee.
