Everything you wanted to know about the music of The Clash can be found in this eleven CD and one DVD boxed set. To be more specific this set will round out your knowledge of the band. It contains B-sides, demos, unreleased tracks and rare tracks. The live content shows how the band started before they became rock stars and how their sound evolved over the years. Material contained is from the late 1970s until they crashed, burned and broke up in the early 1980s. It is a treat for those who have not seen the band live. Stuff that hasn’t really been heard before. The band’s first five albums are stretched out over eight discs. All the music has been remastered and boy have they improved the sound. The DVD contains footage shot by Julian Temple, some on Super 8 by Don Letts, rare live footage and some of the band’s promo videos. With the live stuff you almost get drenched by the sweat coming off Joe Strummer’s brow. Cool portrayal of the rage and passion this band played their music with in the live arena. There is also some really cool non-musical stuff like a booklet, badges, dog tags, a fanzine, stickers, a photo poster and a notebook designed by Harland Miller. In other words, a whole whack of things that would make any fan happy. It is not cheap but totally worth it if you are a big fan of the band due to its thoroughness.
