Grown Ups 2

Another in an ever growing list of bad films starring Adam Sandler.  The first one wasn’t very good and this one is even worse.  The only thing that is left to wonder about is how low his films can go and how long will people continue giving him money to make films.

Successful Hollywood producer Lenny Feder (Adam Sandler – Grown Ups, Just Go With It) has decided to move his family back to his hometown to be around his friends Eric (Kevin James – Hitch, Mall Cop), Kurt (Chris Rock – Madagascar, Down to Earth) and Marcus (David Spade – Tommy Boy, The Benchwarmers) and their families.  He thinks that it will be the perfect environment and town for his kids to grow up in. But between crazy cops, angry frat boys, drugged out bus drivers, party crashers, and old bullies maybe Hollywood is the safer place?

Going into Grown Ups 2 expecting flow or storyline will lead to you being completely disappointed. It is just a series of skits thrown together that don’t even really pretend to be a film.  Watching this is akin to being subjected to Chinese water torture.  Rather than laughter it will be groans that emit from your mouth while watching this.

The most obvious sign that this is not going to be a good film is that Sandberg’s charity case, Rob Schneider, doesn’t even deem the film worthy of his paper thin acting talent.  Not good, not good at all.  Still there are others that show up.  After so many flops it is shocking that Adam Sandler still gets stars to appear in his films.  Cameos by Taylor Lautner, Steve Buscemi, Shaquille O’Neal, Oliver Hudson, Cheri Oteri, Andy Samberg, Will Forte, Colin Quinn, and Milo Ventimiglia won’t add any credibility to their résumés.

Don’t get me wrong there are some funny moments in this film.  Against my better judgment I broke down and laughed a couple of times.  I’m paraphrasing the saying, but if you throw enough garbage against the wall some of it is bound to stick.  You gotta give it to Adam Sandler as he keeps trying to make a funny picture; I just don’t know if he recognizes what funny is anymore.
